From Art of Jiu Jitsu

October 30, 2026

Alejandra Boixader started Jiu Jitsu at four in Barcelona, watching her father train with the adults. At home, they studied AOJ’s kids team on video from the sofa.

At nine, she trained here for the first time. During the pandemic, they turned the living room into a mat and trained there every day until they could come back. She returned at twelve and has come every year since.

In November 2024, she tore her ACL. Surgery, five months off the mat, and a lesson in patience. Today she is a 16-year-old blue belt who already knows where she wants to be. Here.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
