Closed Guard: Head Control

Closed Guard: Head Control

From Ascend Jiu Jitsu

January 26, 2024

Coach Alejandro teaching the little ones how to control the head and arm in closed guard. We can use all four limbs in the guard to control our opponent. One hand on the head, one hand on the hand, and closed legs pulling your opponent down. Teaching the young ones is such a task. With a first time student walking around during the instruction. Showing them patience is critical for young kids to learn. When they start wrestling it is always so amazing how much they actually learned.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
