152: Thalys Pontes Pt. 1

From BJJ GOONS

June 6, 2022 · 31:31

Thalys Pontes is the #1 ranked Brown Belt in the world and the owner of TAP World Class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a successful and growing academy in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Although Thalys' future looks as bright as the gold medals he wins, Thalys had to GRIND to get to this point. Escaping the dangers of the streets of Brazil, going through the ranks with PSLPB Cicero Costa, and finessing US immigration are part of his rise to success in the Jiu-Jitsu industry. Thalys' story is so epic we had to make two parts. You're going to love it.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
