Same old warm up? Try this random technique, now drill and let's roll. Is this the best way to learn? Probably not. Even though every Jiu-Jitsu coach has a different approach to teaching technique, the current state of BJJ classes is a tired old formula.
But what is the best way to teach BJJ?

  • Skip Warm Ups or Athletically Primed- Live Games better than Drills?- Planned Classes or Freestyle seminars- Teacher Leader VS Team Teaching If you are struggling with remembering what is taught in class you need to find the best way for you to learn. Once you identify what works this it will accelerate your BJJ dramatically. The way the class is taught is outside your control so don't depend on it, be intentional and own what you are learning.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
