Can you do BJJ while pregnant? Is it safe to roll with a bun in the oven? Livia Giles is known for being one of Australia's best female Black belt competitors, top athlete and BJJ instructor. She is now a mother of 2 and trained her way through both pregnancies up unto a certain point. She speaks on getting a good obstetrician, feeling super strong while pregnant and lifting and BJJ positions you really need to avoid.
Communication and choosing the right training partners was a big piece of the puzzle for safety with both her and her baby. This is an incredibly insightful discussion on a very unique situation that faces women who want to keep up their Jiu-Jitsu while pregnant.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
