One Month Later: Alan Stockman’s Inspiring Journey of Recovery

From CARLSON GRACIE TEAM - INDIANAPOLIS

November 13, 2024

In this video, we’re sharing the incredible story of Alan Stockman, owner of Stockman Jiu-Jitsu, and his journey of resilience and determination following an unexpected accident at Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro.

While leading our Jiu-Jitsu in Rio Camp, Alan suffered a spinal cord injury called Central Cord Syndrome, which initially left him paralyzed in both his upper and lower limbs. Now, one month later, Alan shares his recovery journey and the steps he’s taking to regain strength. With the support of his family, friends, and our Jiu-Jitsu community, Alan remains committed to a full recovery.

We thank everyone who has been there for him during this time—your encouragement has been invaluable. Watch Alan’s story and be inspired by his unwavering spirit!

Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and follow for updates on his recovery journey.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
