BJJ White Belt Afraid of Leg Locks (Can’t FEEL Them Before Injury)

From Chewjitsu

In BJJ when it comes to leg locks 1 of the common complaints I'll hear from people is that you can't "feel" them before they injure you. And so, people steer clear of using them.

I got a similar message from a youtube viewer recently.

So I touch on the idea of leg lock dangers and the idea that you can't feel leg locks or kneebars in BJJ.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
