True Story of Black Belts Transforming Injuries into Skill in BJJ

True Story of Black Belts Transforming Injuries into Skill in BJJ

From Chewjitsu

October 2, 2026

Today's video comes from a BJJ grappler who is dealing with a string of injuries and is wondering about how to deal with them.

In the video I share some ideas that have been useful to me and many other grapplers with overcoming injuries in BJJ. And not just overcoming them but using them to make them better!

For instance, a lot of black belts in BJJ that I know talk about injuries they had in the past almost like a blessing in disguise.

I share some stories from my own experience with this and hopefully it helps you if you're struggling with some injuries and trying to figure out a way to train or improve in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Thanks for watching.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
