Is Ego Worth A Neck Injury? #shorts

From CMJJ Headquarters

September 20, 2026

That one moment of stubbornness cost me months of neck pain. I learned the hard way that practice isn't the place to prove your toughness. Whether it's a triangle or a guillotine, protecting the neck is non-negotiable. Pushing through submissions—especially during drills—doesn't just risk acute injury; it creates long-term damage to the arteries and nerves. Realizing that training smart beats training hard changed everything for my longevity in this sport.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
