Adult No-Gi Jiu Jitsu in Miramar Beach | Frames From Bottom & Underhook Escapes
From Coastal Jiu Jitsu
Adult No-Gi Jiu Jitsu at Coastal Jiu Jitsu in Miramar Beach, Florida gives adults a place to practice escaping bad positions without relying on gi grips. In this class, students work from the bottom: building frames, keeping their feet on the mat, and using underhooks to create space when a partner is pinning them flat.
For busy adults, professionals, and parents looking for a challenge that works the body and the mind, this is a real look at how we train. Students learn what to do when they get stuck, how to stay calm under pressure, and how to turn a bad spot into a better one.
Inside this class
The coach starts from bottom side control in no-gi, showing how to build a frame with the underhook, hide the head without inviting a guillotine or D'Arce, and bring the arm across the body once the hand comes inside. Students practice keeping their feet planted so they can't be rolled flat, filling empty space with their elbows, and bumping with the hips once tension is built.
The class moves into live problem-solving from the bottom. Partners pin, students try to improve their frames and get to their side, and the coach steps in on details like hand fighting so the top person can't lock their hands together, using frames as a short "pit stop" instead of a permanent hold, and exploding out once the partner opens up. The shared theme is simple: stay connected, keep your feet, fill the void, and escape when the opening appears.

Key technical concepts
Keep your feet on the mat. Once your feet come up, you become easy to roll flat. Planted feet give you the base to bump, shrimp, and get to your side.
Fill the void. Empty space under a pin is where your partner gets heavier. Elbows, knees, and frames take that space before they do.
Use frames as a pit stop. A good frame slows your partner down so you can hit the next move. Holding it forever invites them to force through or find a way around.
Why this work matters
Getting stuck on the bottom happens to everyone. Adults who train here learn to stay calm, build a plan, and improve their position one detail at a time instead of panicking or muscling out. That kind of problem-solving under pressure is useful well beyond the mat.
The class also shows how we look after each other. The more experienced partner sets the pace and keeps everyone safe, so people at every level can train hard and keep coming back.
