Saturday Open Mat in Miramar Beach | Frames, Guard Recovery & Free Rolling

From Coastal Jiu Jitsu

October 30, 2026

Saturday Open Mat at Coastal Jiu Jitsu in Miramar Beach is a relaxed chance for kids, parents and adults to roll, ask questions and work on what they want.

If you've been looking for a fun way for the family to stay active on the weekend, this is what it looks like.

What happens at open mat

This long video is free rolling with coaching along the way, not a structured class. Early on there's coaching on getting the knees inside, building frames and turning toward your partner, walking the feet away to re-establish guard, and inverting. Later there's work on elbow position in an arm lock and a short note on the head-and-arm choke, which is subtle to tighten. The video ends with rounds and leg drag details.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
