Adult Jiu Jitsu in Miramar Beach | Live Rounds: Breathing, Scrambles & Resting Smart

From Coastal Jiu Jitsu

October 31, 2026

Rolling hard means learning to manage your energy. In this adult class at Coastal Jiu Jitsu in Miramar Beach, we go straight from a quick drill into rounds, with coaching on breathing, scrambling and where to rest.

If you want a workout that keeps you sharp before work, this is what our morning rounds look like.

Inside this class

Class picks up from the previous rounds: the bottom person works from a set start. Partners try two variations about five times each, then roll. The coaching covers controlling your breathing, scrambling only enough to create an angle so you don't burn out, and resting in a spot where your partner isn't smashing you or holding your head. Later, one member talks about wanting to give up the top position when tired and choosing to keep going.

Key technical concepts

Control your breathing. Staying calm helps you last longer in a round.

Scramble with a purpose. Move just enough to create an angle, so you don't burn out.

Rest in the right place. Recover where your partner can't put pressure on you.

Why this work matters

Learning to manage energy and keep going when tired is one of the biggest lessons live training teaches. Students learn to make a plan, notice what isn't working, and try another option, and the more experienced partner sets the pace so people at every level can train hard and keep coming back.

This video is also an honest look at a normal day of training here. Nobody is performing for the camera: you see the questions, the corrections, the missed attempts, and the small wins that add up over time. If you've wondered what a class actually feels like before you walk in, this is it. Come try one, ask questions, and see for yourself.

New to Jiu Jitsu?

You don't need any wrestling or Jiu Jitsu background to start. Beginners learn the basics first, drill at a controlled pace, and build up to live training with coaching along the way. Questions are always welcome, and partners look after each other so everyone can keep training.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
