Adult Jiu Jitsu in Miramar Beach | Berimbolo From Double Pull & Grip Fighting Rounds

Adult Jiu Jitsu in Miramar Beach | Berimbolo From Double Pull & Grip Fighting Rounds

From Coastal Jiu Jitsu

November 1, 2026

Technique lets a smaller person handle a bigger one. In this adult gi class at Coastal Jiu Jitsu in Miramar Beach, we warm up with the berimbolo from double pull, then work grip fighting and positional rounds at a controlled pace.

If you're a busy adult who wants a challenging workout that also teaches you something, this class shows how we train hard and stay safe.

Inside this class

Partners warm up by hitting the berimbolo from double pull: hold the ankle, push with the elbow and come all the way up. The coach shows the move still works on a training partner almost 40 pounds heavier, and notes common mistakes like letting your legs scoot down and not pulling yourself back up with your arm.

We add foot placement under the armpit, chambering, the knee into the pit, and rotating the whole body. Rounds run at about 40% because winning or losing isn't the point. The coaching covers leg work, grip fighting, clearing a grip before a foot lock, the four points of control, and staying ahead of the match by applying pressure. The coach also points out how a younger partner can push the pace even from a bad spot. Free rolling finishes the class.

Key technical concepts

Technique over size. Good technique lets a smaller person handle a bigger partner.

Train at a controlled pace. Rounds at about 40% let everyone learn without getting hurt.

Stay ahead with pressure. Keep your partner reacting to you.

Why this work matters

Training hard while staying safe lets adults of every size and age keep coming back. Students learn to make a plan, notice what isn't working, and try another option, and the more experienced partner sets the pace so people at every level can train hard and keep coming back.

New to Jiu Jitsu?

You don't need any wrestling or Jiu Jitsu background to start. Beginners learn the basics first, drill at a controlled pace, and build up to live training with coaching along the way. Questions are always welcome, and partners look after each other so everyone can keep training.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
