Apply a high-percentage Kimura submission when an opponent has a rear body lock. Protect yourself from slams and finish.

When an opponent secures a rear body lock, your primary concern must be protecting yourself from potential slams. This effective BJJ technique focuses on maintaining your balance and safety before you initiate your counter-attack.

Mastering this type of grappling defense requires connecting your body to your opponent to neutralize their ability to lift you. Pushing the opponent's hips allows you to hop in and transition smoothly to the ground. This sequence sets up a clean Kimura submission, allowing you to finish the exchange from a dominant position on the mat.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
