Should Men and Women Train Together in Jiu-Jitsu? #jiujitsu #jiujitsutraining #friscotx

Professor Matthew Jones, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt at Diamondback Jiu-Jitsu in Frisco, Texas, explains why training with trusted male partners can be valuable for women learning real-world self-defense.

In a real-life confrontation, a woman may face an attacker who is bigger and stronger. Training with men in a safe, controlled environment can help women experience those physical differences and better prepare for potential threats.

At Diamondback Jiu-Jitsu, self-defense comes first. Women regularly train with other women while occasionally training with trusted male partners.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
