Faith & Facts – Episode 1: The Lamp Within

In this first conversation on Faith & Facts, my wife and I sat down and talked through a powerful truth from the book of Gospel of Luke—that the eye is the lamp of the body.

What you allow in shapes what comes out. If your vision is clear, your whole life fills with light. But if your vision is off, everything begins to distort.
This isn’t just spiritual language—it’s leadership language. What you focus on daily will eventually define your character.

Your inputs become your output.

Jesus didn’t stop there—He went straight at the religious leaders of the time and exposed something deeper.

They looked clean on the outside, disciplined, structured, respected… but inside, there was greed, pride, and disorder. That’s a dangerous place to be—because it’s deception at the highest level. Looking right, but living wrong.

That’s the warning for all of us, especially in leadership. You can build an image, a brand, even a following—but if the inside isn’t aligned, it won’t last.

True leadership isn’t external performance, it’s internal order.
He also calls out something we see everywhere today—people placing heavy expectations on others, but not living it themselves.
That’s not leadership, that’s hypocrisy. Real leadership lifts, teaches, and walks it out first.

So the question we asked each other—and now we ask you—is simple:
What are you letting into your life right now?

Is your “lamp” producing light… or slowly filling you with darkness?

Because at the end of the day, faith isn’t just what you say you believe… it’s what your life actually reveals.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
