One of the greatest lessons competition has taught me is that simplicity wins. Over the years, the double underhook system has become one of my highest-percentage positions, not because it's flashy, but because it consistently works under pressure.
This pathway has played a major role in many of my competition victories because it allows me to conserve energy while systematically eliminating my opponent's strongest attacks. By bringing both arms inside, I remove many of the common threats available from the closed guard, including cross chokes, armbars, triangles, and many of the sweeping opportunities that exist when your arms remain on the outside.
Good Jiu Jitsu isn't about collecting more techniques. It's about understanding the principles that consistently place you in safer, stronger, and more efficient positions. When you remove danger first, your offense begins to open naturally.
This is one of the foundational systems we teach at Gracie Allegiance Texas because fundamentals, when understood deeply, continue to produce results at every level—from self-defense to world championship competition.
Simple. Efficient. Proven.
