My name is Coach Alex D’Hue, I’m the head instructor from Gracie Barra Garden Grove, and today we are here at Enders Elementary to introduce Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the benefits of training martial arts, and introduce the kids to how to deal with a bully. So today was a lot of fun, we started our demonstration by showing the kids a lot of cool moves that Jiu Jitsu offers, after that we introduced them to our 3 step process. The first step is to walk away. A lot of times kids don’t know what it actually feels like to walk away, so we gave them the opportunity to do that today. After that we had them work on step number 2 which is to stand up for themselves. We had them work on having a good base, feeling confident, and looking the bully in the eyes and telling them to stay away from them. Then we showed them the third step, which is to defend themselves. Today went really well, the kids were very disciplined, they were very engaged in the presentation, so it was a lot of fun, it seemed like the kids were taking a lot of interest. For us as instructors, it was just awesome to see big smiles on all the kids' faces.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
