Double Ankle Sweep and Armbar Combination

Double Ankle Sweep and Armbar Combination

From Gracie Humaita New Jersey

March 15, 2019

On this class clip, Prof. David Adiv approaches an often overlooked technique: the double ankle sweep.

The unique characteristics of this technique makes it possible to be used in all aspects of the fight, be it with the gi, no gi grappling and in mma.

In its defensive qualities, it prevents the passing of the guard and the “smashing” from the top when the opponent is pressing for the pass or going for the ground and pounding game.

Prof. Adiv pairs it up with an armbar to make it possible to follow up with the opponent’s options of defense without missing the opportunity to stay on an advantageous position while seeking to finish the fight.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
