Mateo Cardona started his black belt career at a high, fresh off a brown belt world title and winning right away. But chasing the image of a “professional athlete” started to take something from him: his love for training.

This year, everything changed. Married, rooted in California, and training as much as he wants with one of the most stacked rooms in the sport, Mateo is back to having fun on the mat. Now he’s sharpening that freedom into a more tactical game for his second appearance at The Crown, just 20 minutes from home.
