Acts 6:1-15 - Full of Faith and Power

The early church was multiplying rapidly—but growth brought new challenges. In Acts 6:1–15, cultural tensions arise when the Hellenistic widows are neglected in the church’s daily distribution. The apostles respond by establishing an orderly division of ministry, appointing seven Spirit-filled men to oversee the work while they remain devoted to prayer and the ministry of the Word.

Among those chosen is Stephen—a man full of faith, wisdom, the Holy Spirit, and power. God works great wonders through him, and when his opponents cannot resist the wisdom and Spirit by which he speaks, they resort to distortion, false witnesses, and carefully manipulated accusations.

Yet Stephen remains completely at peace. Surrounded by hostility and facing the council, his face appears like the face of an angel.

• Stephen’s confidence and peace under false accusation

When people cannot answer the truth, they may attempt to rewrite the story. But those who know they have been faithful before God can stand in peace—even when surrounded by hostility.
