4-Week Guard System

Welcome to Week 1 of the 4-Week Guard System series.
This week is focused on learning how to properly enter the main guard positions with efficiency and control.

Before thinking about sweeps or submissions, it’s essential to understand how to arrive at the right positions with good structure and timing. In this class, you’ll learn clear and practical setups to reach the following positions:
De La Riva CROSS COLAR FOR…

  • X-Guard
  • Key Guard
  • One Leg

This series was designed not only for students, but also for INSTRUCTORS who want a structured teaching model that can be applied directly in their academies. There are several ways to reach these positions, but this is one way to put you ahead in the game.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll build on this foundation with sweeps, transitions, and submissions, following a logical progression that is easy to teach and easy to apply.

📌 Week 1 Goal:
Learn efficient and reliable entries to reach the core guard positions of the system.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
