3 GAMES IN 3 MINUTES: COLLECTING 2 LEGS

From Spectrum Jiu Jitsu Sports Combat

October 10, 2026

Here are 3 games we played this morning to develop the skill of connecting to both legs to advance position and attack submissions.

  1. STANDING: SINGLE LEG

Attacking Player: Using a single leg connection, move your opponent and connect to their free leg with either your hand or foot. Destabilize them to their hands or hips, then connect to their hips to win.

Defending Player: Free your leg to win.

  1. GUARDED: CROSS HOOK

Attacking Player: Using a cross hook and outside ankle grip, connect to both of your partner’s legs, destabilize them, and connect to their hips to win.

Defending Player: Stay on your feet, clear the bottom player’s connections, and establish an outside shin touch to win.

  1. PINNING: SIDE SMASH

Attacking Player: Use a side smash to keep your partner’s legs collected. Win by either covering their hips with your hips to establish a pin or entering their legs.

Defending Player: Create a closed leg connection, reverse the top and bottom positions, or stand up to win.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
