"I'm not fit enough to start BJJ yet."

This is the most common thing we hear. And it makes no sense.

You don't get in shape to start training. You start training to get in shape.

Everyone who trains now was once a complete beginner. Out of breath. Tired. Learning everything for the first time.

That's literally the point of being a white belt.

If you've been thinking about it, stop thinking and just try one class. That's all it takes to see if it's for you.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
