# 2023 Canadian Nationals Jiu Jitsu Tournament

**Description:** The CJA is
pleased to announce and introduce to everyone to the Canadian National Jiu
Jitsu Championships.

This
tournament, like for many other sports, will qualify the best teen, adult and
masters Jiu Jitsu athletes in the country for each division.  The adults and masters will represent Canada at
the JJIF World Championships tournament in Mongolia in July 2023.

The U16, U18,
U21 will represent Canada in Kazakhstan in August 2023.  For more information on the JJIF, please

For those
not familiar, Canada has been taking teams to this event for since 2017 (2020
excluded) and this past November the CJA took a large team to compete in Abu
Dhabi.  Canada was represented by 3
athletes under 16, 5 athletes Under 18, 3 athletes under 21 and 13 adults and 4
masters.  Canada took 2nd
place overall for Jiu Jitsu at this tournament, bringing back 6 gold medals as
well as 7 silver and 3 bronze medals.  In
July 2022 we also had 2 athletes compete at World Games in Birmingham, Alabama
USA with Vicky Hoang bringing home our very first World Games Gold Medal and
Michael Sheehan winning the bronze medal.

The National
tournament features all divisions and the best athletes will qualify to
represent Canada. Please check "Qualifier Division" for more info about it

The Canadian Nationals Jiu Jitsu Tournament will have regular divisions and qualifier divisions.

All Jiu Jitsu Practioners, from all nationalities, are welcome to attend and compete in the regular divisions.

For Qualifier Divisions, a canadian passaport is required. Please see "Qualifier Divisions" and "Qualifier Process" Tab for more info.

Event is sanctioned by Ontario Jiu Jitsu Association. All athletes are required to have a valid membership.
