# 2024 NSW Country BJJ Championship

> Competition in Hall, Australian Capital Territory, Australia | October 26, 2024

## Overview

**Event Type:** Competition

**Description:** All matched competitors will have at least 2 matches in their Division
- This will also mean the estimated finish time of the event will be later than listed, as competitors in best of 3 matches will often end early as soon as one competitor has achieved to 2 wins.

**REGISTRATIONS**1 Division - Early**$75**, Normal**$85**, Late**$95**Extra Divisions - Early**$30**, Normal**$35**, Late**$40**

**LAST DAY TO CHECK, CHANGE & WITHDRAW**Until 1:00pm on the day after Late Registration Closes

**DRAWS & SCHEDULE REALEASED**Will be released at 5:00pm on the Day before the competition

This is to help travelling competitors to compete fresh and not tired from early morning travel, as well as save money if they needed a room to book to make an earlier start.

The Event Organiser reserves the right to adjust registrations where appropriate

After the Last Day to Check, Change & Withdraw, competitors who do not have anyone in their division group may be merged with another division. All athletes who remain solo in their divisions once brackets are released means had no default merges available to them, and therefore there are no matches available for that competitor. They will be withdrawn from the competition and receive a 95% refund.

I realise that I may be merged into another weight or age, to ensure that I have a match, and that this will be done to the next closest division available based on the merging policy, and wave my right for a refund in this event of this occurring! However any competitor that the Event Organiser is unable to be merged based on the merging policy is eligible to receive a 95% refund if they selected "Merge Me" and waive their rights to a medal and points.

On rare occasions competitors who are matched may be merged up to match with a single competitor category.

I also understand that the option for the Event Organiser to merge divisions is only available during the matchmkaing and scheduling phase and that competitors cannot be merged after this time, nor at the competition.

**Kids Merges:**Kids will be merged up no more than 2 weight classes and 2 ages classes.* Please note all kids divisions are mixed belts *
**Juvenile Merges:**Juveniles will be merged up no more than 2 weight classes. Juvenile Divisions will not be merged into Adult Divisions.
**Adult Merges:**Adults will be merged up no more than 3 weight classes and may also be merged into a Master Division if this is possible based on year of birth.
**Master Merges:**Masters will be merged up no more than 3 weight classes and may also be merged into any other age division that is possible based on their year of birth. However Brown & Black Belt No-Gi competitors registered into Masters Divisions will not be merged in Adult divisions, due to the different rules.

I REALISE IT IS MY OWN RESPONSIBILITY TO CHANGE DIVISIONS OR WITHDRAW IF I DO NOT HAVE A MATCH! Competitors in Single Fighter Categories are responsible to choose who they compete against and can change to the division they choose. Adults/Masters may go down in Age & change weight. Or they can instead decide to stay where they are. Any athlete left in a single fighter category after 10pm of the Check & Change day, will collect their gold medal without a fight. Please note, in order to collect your Gold medal and ranking points you must still pass uniform check and weigh in on the day, if you do not make weight you will not be eligible to collect your gold medal. If you choose to remain and collect your medal you will not be eligible for any refund or coupon credit.

Note: All athletes in single fighter categories will collect both individual and team ranking points as well as the Gold Medal.

**Competitor Lists:**

Competitor Lists will be LIVE throughout the registration process and can be viewed by checking out the registrations tab on the event page. We encourage everyone to login by or before the last day of registration and check their details along with the competitor lists. The last day competitors or instructors can make changes is on the Check, Change or Withdraw day before 10pm. Do not wait until after this time when the brackets are published and locked in with the schedule created to confirm such details as it will be too late.

**Rules**

Our matches follow the [IBJJF](https://ibjjf.com/) competition rule-set, both for adults and kids. All competitors are expected to be familiar with all these rules and the uniform requirements prior to registering for this tournament. Ignorance is not an excuse - please follow this link to see the current IBJJF rules.

**Match Time**

All Kids divisions will be 3 minute matches
All Adult/Master divisions will be 5 minute matches

**Age Selection**

The Event calculates competitor date of births as current year minus year of birth in alignment with IBJJF rules. ie. current year-year of birth = age division eligible to enter.

**Weight Selection**

Weights in the drop down box are represented as net with the appropriate Gi or No Gi allowance of the uniform is already included in division e.g. the 82.3kg division already includes the 3.3kg allowance of the 79kg division. All competitors must step on the scales with the correct uniform to which they will be competing in. Competitors must be under the weight division when they step onto the official scales or they will be disqualified immediately.

**Weigh In**

Competitors should present themselves at the weigh in and uniform inspection station no less than 30min before their scheduled match. Also important to note the schedule is dynamic and changes throughout the day, please check your times regularly to ensure that you do not miss your weigh in and become disqualified. Once competitors are weighed in they are required to stay inside the competition area and are responsible to ensuring they are able to hear their name called to compete. Leaving the mat area they are scheduled to compete on, wearing ear phones, similar devices, or not responding when called to compete will result in immediate disqualification.

**Juniors transitioning to Juvenile & Adult Belt Ranks**

The Event Organiser recognises that Black Belts & Head Instructors, will know which is the correct rank to graduate a Junior to in the year they turn 16. No Juveniles or Adults may wear Junior coloured belts (Grey, Yellow, Orange or Green) - Instead they must wear either Blue or Purple Belts at their instructors discretion!

**Academy/Team Name:**

Competitors are responsible to ensure they have registered under the correct academy/team name. Once registration is completed this cannot be altered.

**Team Points:**

Competitors in single fighter divisions will be allocated team points and will instead be withdrawn from the competition and receive a refund. Any adult/master athletes that have selected remain and medal will only receive points for their own athlete rankings and will not be awarded points for the team.

**Team Ranking:**

Teams will be ranked in the following order.

***First Consideration***- Team points will be allocated based on Gold, Silver & Bronze placings. The Team with the most points overall will win the first place, Followed by the team with second highest overall points in second and the team with third highest points in third.

***Second consideration***- In the event a team is tied on points, ranking between the tied teams will be determined by the better ranking going to the team with the most wins. If it is still tied then the team with the most Gold Medals then silver medals will receive the better ranking. Then if it is still tied then the team with the most bronze medals will receive the better ranking. If it is still tied after all the above then the decision will be made by random pick.

**DOUBLE ELEMINATION:**

All matched competitors will be scheduled to have at least two matches in each division.

This will be pending all competitors who have entered compete in all the matches assigned. If a competitor in a does not make weight, pass uniform inspection, is injured, does not show when called, or disqualified from the entire event, then the division will continue without them, and their scheduled match will be decided as a win by DQ.

***2 Person Division***- In a 2 person division the Gold medal will be decided by the first person to win 2 matches, with no further matches to take place.

***3 Person Division***- In a 3 person division the Gold medal will be decided by the person who wins the most matches, if all 3 people win the same number of matches, it will be determined by the most submissions. If this is also equal all 3 competitors will be awarded Gold Medals.

***4+ Person Division***- In a 4+ person division the Gold medal will be decided by the person who wins all their matches. The Silver Medal will be determined by the person who won all their matches, except for the final match. The Bronze Medal will be determined by the person who lost a match and was placed in the repechage, but then subsequently won all their matches in the repechage.

**RISK AND INSURANCE**

The competitor and/or their guardian (if under 18yrs) acknowledges and agrees that the competitor shall be responsible to obtain all or any insurance for loss and/or medical, hospital, life, income protection, personal, property, or any other risk or damage that the competitor may cause or suffer, (whether directly or indirectly) and the competitor covenants that he acknowledges that any failure by the competitor to fully insure himself against any accident, damage, injury, loss, whatsoever, howsoever arising shall be solely at the risk of the competitor.

And the competitor and/or their guardian (if under 18yrs) hereby indemnifies the Event Organiser against all and any loss or damage caused directly or indirectly by the competitor’s involvement in the event or contest. Furthermore, the competitor shall make themselves available at Event Organiser's discretion to undergo pre and post bout medical examinations, including drug testing, by duly qualified personal on the day of the event, at the Event Organiser’s discretion and shall participate in the event solely at the Event Organiser’s discretion, dependent upon the interpretation of the results of those tests at the sole discretion of the Event Organiser.

**MEDICS**

All events have Qualified First Aid Medics, who can treat on site, so anyone injured will be cared for until an ambulance arrives.

**AWARDS & GIFTS**

Competitors may only receive their medals whilst standing on the podium with the other competitors who placed in their division. If a competitor does not do this they will not receive their medal at a later date and this action may also cause a disciplinary result, potentially banning a competitor from competing in other divisions at the same tournament - due to bad sportsmanship. Competitors that are eligible for a gift, prize, T-shirt or other awards must collect them on the day of the competition. If they are not collected on the day of the tournament, the competitor is forfeits their right to all gifts, prizes, T-shirts or other awards.

**REFUND POLICY**

Only competitors that have selected**"Merge Me"**and are unable to be merged after Check & Change Day will be eligible to receive a 95% refund (minus transaction fees). However if a competitor misses their weight or does not attend, they are not eligible for a refund.

Any competitor that decides to withdraw from the competition prior to the Check, Change & Withdraw deadline, may receive 95% of their fee refunded. Competitors seeking the entry fee re-compensation must do so before the Check, Change & Withdraw option closes or they will be unable to. No entries will be transferred or credited. There are no refunds or credits for this event, no exceptions. You will not be entitled to a refund or credit, regardless of whether or not you participate. By paying for your registration you will be put into a bracket and be called to compete on the day of competition. You will lose your first match by disqualification if you do not show up for your match, do not have an approved uniform, do not make the minimum qualification for that bracket, are required to isolate or have an injury, Covid-19 or other medical condition that will not allow you to compete. This also includes single competitor categories when your opponent/s have withdrawn from your division. This also includes divisions where all other opponents withdraw, are disqualified or absent and only one competitor remains. In this instance the single competitor will gain points, as well as team points, and be awarded the Gold Medal on the podium, and declared the winner.

Choose your divisions carefully. Competitors cannot withdraw from a single division. The only current option is for competitors to withdraw from the entire competition and then re-enter at the price on the date of the new registration.

Competitors which have selected "Merge Me" that are in Single Fighter Divisions that cannot be merged under the merging guidelines into another division will be issued with a 95% refund.

Refunds can be obtained by logging into your account and cancelling your event registration

**DIVISION CHANGES**

Division changes may be made online through smoothcomp. This must be completed on or before the Check, Change or Withdraw Day. Competitors can ONLY change their Age, Weight & Belt within a division and cannot swap between divisions - eg. Gi to Nogi, weight class to Absolute, or Kids No Gi to Kids Gi. Competitors who are from the same team that may be matched or merged, once registration has closed will not be eligible for a refund and will be unable to have their division changed. On this situation competitors must compete and cannot close the division, fake matches will result in both competitors being disqualified. Here is a link that explains how to change divisions.
