🎯 EVENT PURPOSE

This is an in-house, friendly tournament created to:

• Provide competitors with safe match experience

• Prepare kids, teens, and adults for future tournaments

• Build confidence, resilience, and teamwork

• Strengthen the Cowboy Jiu-Jitsu community and invited friends

👦👧🧑 DIVISIONS

Kids & Teens

• Pee Wee, Kids, and Teens (ages 4–15)

• Juveniles (16–17)

⚠️ Boys and girls will not compete together

If a division has low registration, similar divisions may be merged for safety and match quality.

Adults & Masters

• Divisions by belt level (White, Blue, etc.)

• Divisions by age (Adult, Masters, etc.)

🏅 BRACKET FORMAT

• Single Elimination brackets

• Some divisions may run as round-robin to ensure more mat time for athletes

⏱ MATCH TIMES

• Pee Wee I & II (4–7): 2 minutes

• Kids I (8–9): 3 minutes

• Kids II & III (10–15): 4 minutes

• Juveniles, Adults & Masters: 5 minutes

⚖️ RULESET

This event follows IBJJF-style rules, with age-appropriate submissions.

Event-Specific Rule Differences

• Double Guard Pull Rule:

In a double guard pull, the first athlete to stand up and establish top position will receive 2 points.

• No Advantages:

Matches are decided by points, penalties, or referee decision only.

• Last Score Wins (Tiebreaker):

If a match ends tied on points with no penalties, the athlete who scored last wins.

🔄 ROUND-ROBIN TIEBREAKERS

If all competitors finish with one win and one loss, placements will be decided by:

1. Most wins by submission

2. Fastest submission

3. Highest total points (all matches)

4. Most wins by points

5. Highest total points in winning matches

6. Lowest total points scored against

7. Most wins by referee decision

⚖️ WEIGH-INS

• All weigh-ins are day of the event

• Kids & Teens: 8:00 – 8:45 AM

• Adults: Starting at 9:00 AM

• Weigh-ins are without the Gi, unless otherwise stated on Smoothcomp

Athletes over their registered weight may be moved to a nearby division if possible.

Gi

• Clean, proper-fitting Gi

• Allowed colors: White, Blue, Black

• Belt must match rank

📝 WAIVER & LIABILITY

By registering on Smoothcomp, participants agree to:

• Acknowledge the inherent risk of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

• Release liability for organizers, referees, coaches, and staff

• Allow use of photos/videos for promotional purposes

• Follow all event rules and demonstrate sportsmanship

Parents, family, and friends are welcome.

Spectators must remain behind barriers and may not interfere with matches, referees, or staff.
