## Overview

**Event Type:** Competition

**Description:** SATURDAY, JULY 25, 2026

BIELMONTE, Loc. 13844, Palasport Bielmonte, Biella

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu GI and NO-GI competition open to all athletes, Italian and foreign (including non-residents in Italy), aged 4 years and older.

⸻

COMPETITION REGISTRATION

All athletes may register for both the Gi and No-Gi tournaments, as well as for both their weight division and the Openweight division (where available). All athletes registered for the Openweight division may compete in the Openweight tournament regardless of the result achieved in their weight division.

Registrations on Smoothcomp are open until SUNDAY, JULY 19 (for weight divisions) and until WEDNESDAY, JULY 22 (for Openweight divisions). Registration may close earlier if the maximum number of participants is reached.

Registration fees to be paid via Smoothcomp:

By SUNDAY, JUNE 14 (discounted fees):

* €28 for the Gi or No-Gi weight division (€20 for athletes aged 4 to 15; €5 for Adult and Master Black Belts*);

* €18 for each Openweight division (€5 for Adult and Master Black Belts*);

* €10 discount for athletes registering for both the Gi and No-Gi tournaments (excluding Black Belts).

By SUNDAY, JULY 19 (standard fees):

* €38 for the Gi or No-Gi weight division (€30 for athletes aged 4 to 15; €5 for Adult and Master Black Belts*);

* €18 for each Openweight division (€5 for Adult and Master Black Belts*);

* €10 discount for athletes registering for both the Gi and No-Gi tournaments (excluding Black Belts).

By WEDNESDAY, JULY 22 (only for athletes already registered in a weight division by SUNDAY, JULY 19):

* €18 for each Openweight division (€5 for Adult and Master Black Belts*).

At weigh-in, athletes who do not make the weight category in which they registered will be disqualified from their weight division tournament but may still compete in the Openweight division, if available and if they registered by WEDNESDAY, JULY 22.

The Openweight tournament (without weight limits) is available only for Kid 4/5/6, Juvenile, Adult, and Master divisions (in the Adult male division there are two Openweight tournaments for each belt rank).

* We were forced to introduce a small registration fee for Black Belts because with free registration many Black Belts would register but fail to attend the competition, causing serious organizational problems.

All athletes must register their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu belt rank on Smoothcomp.

Please note that athletes who have competed in professional MMA bouts, or in national-level Absolute MMA, Olympic Wrestling, or Sambo tournaments, or who hold a Black Belt in Judo or a belt equal to or higher than Blue Belt in Grappling or MMA, are not allowed to compete in White Belt divisions.

Team representatives must register their Academies/Teams on Smoothcomp:

They must also ensure that their athletes have correctly entered their Academy/Team affiliation on Smoothcomp.

⸻

AGE DIVISIONS

Age divisions are determined either by the athlete’s current age or by the age they will turn during the calendar year in which the competition takes place.

For example, an athlete who is 17 years old on the day of the competition but will turn 18 during the same year may register for either the Juvenile or Adult division.

⸻

REGISTRATION CHANGES

Until MONDAY, JULY 20, athletes may independently change divisions on Smoothcomp (instructions here):

https://support.smoothcomp.com/article/89-how-to-change-weightclass-or-cancel

On WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, athletes who are alone in their division or who are in a division composed entirely of athletes from the same Team may request to be moved by sending an email to trofeonorditaliaopen@gmail.com (emails sent before WEDNESDAY, JULY 22 will not be considered).

Athletes who are alone in their division may choose not to move divisions and instead attend the event venue to receive the gold medal, after successfully passing weigh-in, and to participate in the Openweight division if available and registered for.

⸻

BRACKET PUBLICATION

Athlete brackets, including estimated first match times, will be published on Smoothcomp on THURSDAY, JULY 23 and cannot be modified at the competition venue.

⸻

WEIGH-IN

Weigh-in opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 12:00 PM. During this time, athletes may complete weigh-in whenever they wish, but they must do so at least one hour before the scheduled start time of their first match indicated on Smoothcomp.

Please note that match times shown on Smoothcomp are estimated and frequently updated in real time during the event according to the duration of previous matches.

At weigh-in, athletes must present only a valid ID document.

For the No-Gi competition, athletes must weigh in wearing competition shorts and a rashguard of any color.

For the Gi competition, athletes must weigh in wearing the Gi they will compete in, which must be entirely white, royal blue, or black (athletes under 16 years old may weigh in without the Gi).

Athletes registered in both the Gi and No-Gi competitions may request during the No-Gi weigh-in that the same weigh-in also be considered valid for the Gi division (in the corresponding weight class, approximately 2-3kg heavier due to the Gi weight).

Athletes who fail to make weight at weigh-in will be disqualified from their weight division tournament but may still participate in the Openweight division if they registered online and confirm their participation.

Athletes registered in Kid 1 divisions (ages 4-5) do not need to weigh in but must still report to the weigh-in table accompanied by an adult to confirm participation.

Athletes registered in divisions without weight limits must still report to the weigh-in table to confirm participation.

All athletes registered for Openweight divisions must confirm their participation during weigh-in; otherwise, they will be removed from the bracket.

Athletes who, after successfully completing weigh-in, are alone in their weight division must immediately go to the podium area and ask the staff member in charge to receive their award.

After each weigh-in closes, athletes who did not appear for weigh-in will be removed from both their weight division and any Openweight division.

After passing weigh-in, athletes must check that a green dot appears next to their name on Smoothcomp. If a red dot appears, they must immediately return to the weigh-in table for verification, as athletes with a red dot are not allowed to compete.

⸻

COMPETITION PROCEDURES

Estimated competition start time: 9:30 AM

All athletes and coaches are strongly encouraged to bring a fully functional smartphone and/or tablet with a fully charged battery, as they will need to independently access Smoothcomp to check their match times and assigned mat.

For this reason, after weigh-in athletes must constantly monitor Smoothcomp for updated estimated match times, which change frequently in real time based on previous match durations, and for their assigned competition mat.

IMPORTANT: Athletes will NOT be called to the mat via loudspeaker.

Ten minutes before the scheduled start time of their match shown on Smoothcomp, athletes must enter the competition area and report to the exact mat indicated on Smoothcomp, positioning themselves on the correct side of the table official and waiting silently (coaching or cheering inside the competition area is strictly prohibited).

The athlete positioned on top of the bracket (green/yellow color) must stand on the left-arm side of the table official and wear the green/yellow belt in Gi matches or the green/yellow ankle band on the right ankle in No-Gi matches. The athlete positioned below in the bracket must stand on the right-arm side of the table official.

At the end of the previous match, athletes must report to the table official, state their surname and first name, and request authorization to enter the mat.

Athletes who fail to report to the table official after the previous match or who have not yet completed weigh-in will be disqualified.

If an athlete has matches scheduled simultaneously on different mats, they must request that the table official of the following match postpone their match.

If an athlete must compete within 5 minutes of finishing a previous match, they may request a 5-minute recovery period from the table official.

After the match, the athlete wearing the green/yellow belt or ankle band must leave it on the official’s table.

After finishing their match, athletes must immediately leave the competition area.

Athletes withdrawing from the competition for any reason must notify the table official assigned to their mat.

After the conclusion of their weight division tournament, athletes participating in Openweight divisions must check Smoothcomp for the estimated start time and assigned mat of each Openweight match.

Consumption of food and beverages inside the competition area is strictly prohibited.

Entering the tatami area with shoes is strictly prohibited.

⸻

AWARDS CEREMONY

At the conclusion of each weight division final, the top 4 athletes (1st, 2nd, and two 3rd places) must immediately go to the podium area and request their medal ceremony from the podium staff member (athletes will not be called to the podium).

Only athletes receiving medals are allowed inside the podium area.
