# GJJL: Guahan Youth Jiu Jitsu Championship

**Description:** Guahan Jiu Jitsu League is pleased to announce the launch of our inaugural youth focused Jiu Jitsu tournament, the Guahan Youth Jiu Jitsu Championship. The tournament will operate through single elimination brackets where brackets will be constructed through a randomized process. GJJL strives to use the Guahan Youth Jiu Jitsu Championship as a platform to foster long term growth and improvement among our local youth Jiu Jitsu athletes by establishing a positively competitive environment and to be the premier youth focused tournament on the island of Guam.

**Event Format: Guahan Youth Jiu Jitsu Championship**

Age Groups

Competitors will be categorized through the following age groups along with the corresponding match durations:

Pee-Wee 1: 4-5 Year Olds - 3:00 Minutes // Pee-Wee 2: 6-7 Year Olds - 3:00 Minutes

Junior: 8-10 Year Olds - 4:00 Minutes // Teen: 11-13 Year Olds - 4:00 Minutes

Juvenile: 14-17 Year Olds - 5:00 Minutes

**Juvenile Open Class (Male and Female)**

Juvenile competitors will have the option to register in their respective open class (all weight classes) based on gender, however they must register in a particular weight class before having the option to register for the open class. Both the male and female juvenile open class champions will be awarded with a $500.00 cash prize along with a sponsorship program with our friends at [Hooks and Lassos](https://instagram.com/hooksandlassos?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==), Guam’s premier Jiu Jitsu lifestyle store.

**In the Event of No Opponents in Division**

If in the event, a competitor doesn’t have a prospective opponent in their division, the competitor (with the discretion of guardian) can either choose to move up in weight class or age group, with all prospective opponents to be notified as well.

**Overall Best Team Scoring System**

Point system indicated below will be added towards respective academy team points.

1st Place - 10 Point(s)

2nd Place - 3 Point(s)

3rd Place - 1 Point(s)

All submission victories taken place in any round - 1 Point(s)
