# Michael Foley's Spring Invitational 2025 > Competition in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada | March 23, 2025 ## Overview **Event Type:** Competition **Description:** Gi and No-Gi Invitational Jiu Jitsu Competition Michael Foley's Academy Spring Invitational will feature both gi and no-gi divisions for juvenile (16/17) and adult athletes, and gi divisions for kids. We will be using IBJJF rules. Kids divisions will be double elimination, while juvenile through adult divisions will be single elimination. We will start with Kids divisions, lowest rank to highest, then Teen divisions, lowest rank to highest, then Juvenile divisions, lowest rank to highest, gi then no-gi. The adult divisions will follow starting with advanced belts gi then no-gi, lowest weight to highest, blue belts gi then no-gi, lowest weight to highest, then white belts gi then no-gi, lowest weight to highest. The divisions will be dawn the day before the event when you will see your start time, but you can estimate where you will be but the division times above. Please note that we require 4 competitors per division. If there are not 4 competitors in your division we will combine close divisions to get the required number of participants for double elimination. In the case that there are no close divisions to be combined we may cancel the division or allow a round robin. *Kids register on the division of their birth year. These divisions will certainly be combined. We keep the birth year separation because it allows us the opportunity to combine groups that best accommodate the age/weight/rank of the students once registration closes. For the younger kids, boys and girls will be combined when divisions aren't full. *There are no t-shirts for this event so you do not have to enter a size - you can fill in N/A if necessary. WEIGH INS Please note athletes will be weighed in upon arrival. There will be half a Kilogram grace, but if an athlete weighs more than half a Kilogram over we will move them up a weight class. For anyone unfamiliar with weight classes, the divisions are listed as "under" and "over" weights. For example, if you are 84kg you register for the -88.3kg division NOT the -82.3kg division, even though you are closer in weight to the latter. We have looked through registrations and there are many athletes, particularly children, whose "actual weight" listed is significantly different from the weight class in which they are registered.
