The venue has changed to 1400 E 8th St, Davis, CA 95616, Da Vinci Charter Academy Tech Hub. We wanted to host a BJJ tournament that was accessible to all in conjunction with our Collegiate GP series. We have hosted 4 small tournaments with college clubs/teams from all across the West Coast including competitors from UC Davis, UC Berkley, UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbra, UC San Diego, San Francisco State, University of San Francisco, Santa Clara University, Stanford, Sac State, San Jose State, Oregon State, and others. Since it is being hosted at UC Davis (Cal Aggies), we decided to call it the NorCow open rather than NorCal as a fun play on words. Double Elimination, 2 matches guaranteed!! **LOCATION:** Da Vinci Charter Academy, Tech Hub 1400 E 8th St, Davis, CA 95616 Doors Open: 8a Weigh ins: 8-9a (will continue throughout the day for Adults) Start: 9a (depending on how many questions I have to answer and bracket changes I have to make) **DATE:** May 31st, 2025 **Last Day to Register:** May 28th, No Exceptions!!! **PRICES HAVE BEEN REDUCED!!!** **EARLY REGISTRATION - until March 16th @ 11:59 PM**KIDS - $25 ADULT - $25 **NORMAL REGISTRATION - until May 23rd @ 11:59 PM**KIDS - $50 ADULT - $25 **LATE REGISTRATION - until May 28th @ 11:59 PM**KIDS - $65 ADULT - $50 **SPECTATORS:**KIDS/ADULTS - $15/20, Verified Coaches are FREE ***NOTICE TO ALL COMPETITORS & COACHES!!*** **IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US AT KAIJU BJJ TO PROVIDE A QUALITY BJJ COMPETITION EXPERIENCE THAT WILL NOT ONLY GIVE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO DISPLAY YOUR JIU-JITSU BUT ALSO HELP YOU PREPARE FOR SOME OF THE BIGGER COMPETITIONS AND DEVELOPING YOUR JIU-JITSU GAME. ALL CHILDREN'S MATCHES WILL BE IBJJF FORMAT FOR SCORING.** **WITH THAT BEING SAID, WE AT KAIJU BJJ ARE CHANGING OUR RULESET FOR ADULTS TO FOLLOW A MODIFIED EBI RULESET, EMPHASIZING SUBMISSIONS AND ACTION OVER STALLING FOR POINTS. IF NO SUBMISSION IS SECURED, IT WILL GO TO 30 SECOND SUDDEN DEATH (FIRST TAKE DOWN), IF NO TAKE DOWN IS AWARDED, IT WILL GO TO JUDGE'S DECISION. FINALS WILL INCORPORATE AN EBI OT FORMAT PRIORITIZING SUBMISSION SPEED AND EXCAPE TIME FROM BACK CONTROL OR SPIDERWEB (ARMBAR POSITION). ADULTS - All submissions are legal except Heel Hooks** ***Brackets/Format*** **Weigh-ins:** We will have DAY BEFORE WEIGH-INS at our academy at 823 4th Street, Davis, CA 95616, Time 6-8p where you can pick up your pre-ordered ($25) "Competitor" T-Shirts SAME-DAY WEIGH-INS will happen at the door when you check in. There will be no weight allowance. If you miss weight, you will be given the opportunity to move into the proper bracket for a $50 fee. **ATTENTION ALL COMPETITORS!**If competing Gi, athletes must weigh in with their gi and belt on.
