# Ontario Jiu Jitsu League Junior Cup

**Description:** **Location**

The first OJJL tournament will be hosted at 4325 Strandherd drive, unit 3, Ottawa, ON. The goal is to eventually have the tournament hosted and broadcast at other Ottawa BJJ academies.

**Date & Start Times**

The adult division will begin at 8am Saturday May 28th. The kids division will begin at 8am Sunday May 29th. The weigh ins will begin at 9am Friday May 27th.

**Cost**

$85 +hst kids (early bird registration)

$95 + hst kids (registration after may 1st)

**Tournament Format**

All kids divisions will be Gi.

**Weigh-Ins**

The weigh ins will begin at 9am Friday May 27th. Kids will weigh in with their Gi on. Competitors may also weigh in on the day of.

**Kids Divisions**

The kids divisions will closely resemble standard IBJJF weight and age categories with 2 exceptions. Each two adjacent weight categories will be combined starting with rooster and light feather effectively reducing 9 weight categories to 4. Additionally, the standard IBJJF age brackets which separate children by birthyear will be combined as follows:

**Mini Mite: 4, 5**

Rooster: -28lbs

Light-Feather: -34lbs

Feather: -40lbs

Light: -47lbs

Middle: -54lbs

Medium-Heavy: -60lbs

Heavy: Over 67lbs

**Mite: 6, 7**

Rooster: -37lbs

Light-Feather: -43lbs

Medium-Heavy: -70lbs

Heavy: Over 70lbs

**Pee-Wee: 8, 9**

*ages will be based upon child’s age birth year. IE if child was born in 2017, child will be considered to be 5 years old (2022-2017=5)

In the case where there are less than 4 registrants in a division, ontario jiu jitsu league will work to combine divisions based on weight, experience and age. Permission will be saught via responsible guardian prior to finalizing brackets.

**Kids Prizes**

1st, 2nd and 3rd place competitors will be awarded with medals.

**Mat Arrangement**

There will be 3 sectioned off competition areas where competitors grapple labelled mats 1 thru 3

**Broadcast**

There will be a live broadcast with sports commentators which will focus on 1 of 3 active mats for our adult division. The quarters, semis and finals will be held on the broadcast mat and streamed live to social media.  There will be a hired photographer which will take photos and post them directly to the @ontariojiujitsuleague instagram

**Competitor Arrival and use of SmoothComp**

Smoothcomp will be used to organize the tournament, competitors are expected to be at the venue exactly 1 hour prior to their first scheduled match.

**Attendance**

To keep numbers inside the facility reasonable athletes will be limited to 1 coach. Cost to enter for additional spectators will be charged $15 online (www.ontariojiujitsuleague.com) or $20 at the door.

**Warm-Up Area**

There will be a designated warm up area located in the rear of the facility where competitors will wait to be called by the ring co-ordinator.

**Rules Meeting**

There will be an official rules meeting on Friday May 27th at 8pm until 9pm for kids and adults.  The rules meeting will also be made available in advance on youtube. Follow us on instagram @ontariojiujitsuleague for more information.
