**Description:** **Location**

The first OJJL tournament will be hosted at 4325 Strandherd drive, unit 3, Ottawa, ON. The goal is to eventually have the tournament hosted and broadcast at other Ottawa BJJ academies.

**Date & Start Times**

The adult division will begin at 8am Saturday May 28th. The kids division will begin at 8am Sunday May 29th. The weigh-ins will begin at 9am Friday May 27th.

**Tournament Format**

All kids divisions will be Gi. All adult divisions will be No-Gi.

**Weigh Ins**

The weigh ins will begin at 9am Friday May 27th. Kids will weigh in with their Gi on. Adult men can weigh in with only their boxers, adult women will weigh in with sports bras and tights.

**Adult Divisions & Cash Prizes**

There will be 4 beginner adult divisions for competitors with fewer than 3 years experience:

Men's Light Absolute (<175lbs) ->$500 to winner

Men's heavy Absolute (>175lbs) ->$500 to winner

Women's Light Absolute (<135lbs) ->$500 to winner

Women's heavy Absolute (>135lbs) ->$500 to winner

There will be 2 advanced divisions for competitors with greater than 3 years experience:

Men’s True Absolute (open weight) ->$1,000 to winner

Women’s True Absolute (open weight) -> $1,000 to winner

**Cost**

$95 +hst adults (early bird price)

$115 +hst adults (registration after may 1st)

**Refunds**

Given this is a cash prize tournament, all sales are final - no refunds.

**Mat Arrangement**

There will be 3 sectioned off competition areas where competitors grapple labelled mats 1 thru 3

**Broadcast**

There will be a live broadcast with sports commentators which will focus on 1 of 3 active mats. The quarters, semis and finals will be held on the broadcast mat and streamed live to social media.  There will be a hired photographer which will take photos and post them directly to the @ontariojiujitsuleague instagram

**Competitor Arrival and use of SmoothComp**

Smoothcomp will be used to organize the tournament, competitors are expected to be at the venue exactly 1 hour prior to their first scheduled match.

**Attendance**

To keep numbers inside the facility reasonable athletes will be limited to 1 coach. Cost to enter for additional spectators will be charged $15 online (www.ontariojiujitsuleague.com) or $20 at the door.

**Warm-Up Area**

There will be a designated warm up area located in the rear of the facility where competitors will wait to be called by the ring co-ordinator.

**Rules Meeting**

There will be an official rules meeting on Friday May 27th at 8pm until 9pm for kids and adults. The rules meeting will also be made available in advance on youtube. Follow us on instagram @ontariojiujitsuleague for more information.

**Adult Beginners Divisions Rules:**will not allow flying submissions, flying guard pulls, flying scissor takedowns. Attempting these will result in warning and reset and then DQ. No leg locks except for straight ankle lock. No estima locks. No toe holds. No leg reaping. Attempting these will result in immediate DQ.

**Adult Advanced Divisions Rules:**flying submissions, flying guard pulls will be permitted.  Flying scissor takedowns will also be permitted. Inside and outside heel hooks permitted, reaping permitted, toe holds permitted, knee bars permitted, estima locks permitted. No slamming. If attempted slam results in injury, immediate DQ, otherwise, it will be a warning. On second attempt, immediate DQ.
