# The Gathering II

**Event Type:** Competition

**Description:** Welcome to The Gathering. This is a Gi submission only style tournament.

At The Gathering, we try to run each match as a double elimination.  We do this to ensure that our competitors are able to participate in as many matches as possible while still running a timely event. Some divisions may not have that option.

Weigh-ins will start at 9:30am. You are not required to be in your gi for weigh ins.

**Match length:**
Adult Regulation time: Standard 8 Min Match
Teen Regulation time: 6 min matches at all skill levels
Youth ages 9-12 regulation time: 5 min matches at all skill levels.
Youth ages 5-8 regulation time: 3 Min matches all skill levels

**Ways a Match can be Won:**
Win via Submission victory within regulation time.
Win in Overtime: victory by submission, fastest submission time, or fastest escape time.
Win by opponent disqualification.
Win via opponent forfeiture.

Submission is based upon physical tapping, a verbal tap, or yelling during a submission attempt. If an opponent must have the match stopped for any injury related incident or any other reason beyond control that does not warrant any disqualifications, the opponent will have 5 mins to return to the match or they will have to forfeit the match.

OVERTIME: When there is no submission within regulation time, the match will be decided in Overtime. Each competitor will be placed onto the seatbelt position. The winner will be the one with the fastest escape time or the fastest submission time.

Legal techniques:
White belts:
Straight arm locks, Bent arm locks, Rear naked choke, Triangle, Arm triangle, Omoplata, Ezekiel choke, Guillotine choke, Straight ankle lock Bicep slicer
Blue belts and above:
All above submissions plus: Wrist locks, Knee bar, Groin stretches, Calf slicer, and Toe holds.

We do NOT allow slamming your opponent. Slamming is picking up your opponent and forcibly increasing their velocity toward the ground. You may not pick up your opponent only to fall on top of them in an effort to break the guard.

You must compete at the highest rank you have achieved in any grappling art.

In the event there is no-one else in your division, we reserve the right to move you up in either weight class, or belt rank.
