# UWW Jiu Jitsu Tournament: Sydney

**Description:** Location: Cortex MMA, 32 Bowden St, Alexandria NSW 2015

Parking is available on site or Green Square station is a short 10 minute walk away.

Doors Open for weigh-ins @ 9am | Event Starts @ 10am

UWW Sydney will follow a double elimination format to ensure competitors are guaranteed at least two matches in their bracket.

All matches will be NoGi and follow UWW weight division rules.

Divisions will be split between Beginner (White belt) & Intermediate (blue to purple Belt). The rules format is visible as below

There will be no opportunity to register on the day so please ensure your registration is completed before they close.

$45 per entry. - Athletes will receive a Wrestling NSW membership as part of their entry fee to this competition. They will receive their membership number on the day of the competition.

**Weigh Ins:**

These take place on the day of the event. Competitors can weigh anytime from doors open up until 60 minutes before their first match. Competitors who have failed to have weighed in an hour before their first match will be disqualified and removed from their bracket.

**Beginner**: - 0-2 years. All IBJJ techniques permissible up to white belt + Wristlocks

**Intermediate:**- 2+ years. All IBJJF techniques up to purple belt + Reaping.

**Permitted & illegal techniques.**

The following techniques are illegal.

**Warm Up Mats:**

There will be a warm up space available for competitors to prepare before their matches.

**Single Athlete Divisions**

Once registration has closed, athletes who have no opponents in their division will be offered the chance to merge division to ensure they receive the chance to compete.

Competitors must wear board shorts without pockets or metal and plastic of any kind and they must reach at least halfway down the thigh and at most to the knee. Women may choose to wear lycra elastic pants.

Spats can be worn under the shorts. Competitors also must wear a rash guard or a shirt of elastic fabric (clings to body) of any color. Competitors cannot compete shirtless or wearing a loose shirt of any kind.

Competitors may choose to wear soft pads on their joints. Pads that contain plastic of any kind will not be permitted.

Competitor’s fingernails and toenails must be trimmed and short.

Long Hair must be tied up

Competitors presenting skin lesions, or any other skin condition shall be directed to the tournament medical staff. Under any circumstances, the medical staff has the final say on whether to allow a competitor to compete or not.
