## Overview

**Event Type:** Competition

**Description:** Warrior’s Collide

No Gi Grappling Competition

The definition of competition is…

“To strive together in pursuit of a common goal”

“Our Culture”

Within the Warrior Culture, we strive to be our best in both competition and character.

With discipline;

• We train hard to protect ourselves and challenge our opponents.

• We always compete with honor, respect and intelligence.

 • We hold ourselves to the highest level of sportsmanship.

 • We celebrate victory whether it is ours or our opponents.

• We come to this competition as friends, not as enemies, and we will strive together in pursuit of these common goals.

“Our Referees”

In the name of safety [physical, mental, and emotional]; referees will exercise supreme authority over the entire event. This authority includes controlling competitors, spectators, and judges.

Referee responsibilities and expectations

• Know and utilize the names of the competitors

• Set the pace and control the contact between competitors

• Constantly coach all competitors by giving them advice and feedback that directly reinforces our warrior culture

 • Break competitors whenever necessary

• Stop the match and time whenever necessary

• Promptly attend to any and all injured competitors

 • Be in control of the mat at all times

“As Spectators”

To all parents, family and friends; To all instructors, judges, referees, and coaches; This competition was constructed for the growth of our children. If we expect to achieve maximum growth, then we need to come together as one community and care for each other like family. Care for every child as if it were your own.

As Parents, we are expected to act as role-models in sportsmanship. We must encourage our children to compete with honor and respect. We must also discourage any cruelty towards others. Our children should be proud of their ability and compete bravely as worthy opponents. Regardless of who wins or loses, we want every child to return home with a positive experience.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Uniform

T shirt or Rash guard. Shorts must be free of buttons, zippers, pockets and belt loops.

Competition Divisions

Students will be placed in divisions based on: Age, Weight, Competition Experience, Boys/Girls

Match times

• Ages 5yr-8yr ……….. 3 min rounds

• Ages 9yr-11yr ……….. 4 min rounds

• Ages 12yr-15yr ……….. 5 min rounds

Match Winners

Winners will be determined by submission or points. No child should have to tap out, and in most cases, the referee will stop the match before the child taps out… At any time during the match if the referee feels that the child might be in danger of injury or close to tapping, the referee will stop the match. If a child cries or yells out in pain, that will be considered a verbal tap and the match will be stopped. Remember, our goal is to build each child’s confidence and provide a safe and positive atmosphere for them to compete and perform well. In the event that nobody has completed a submission in the allotted time frame, the point system comes into play to identify the winner.

Point System

The rules emphasizes the importance of positional dominance, awarding points for specific positions. It allows a limited time for each match, during that time, judges award points for certain techniques and positions. You can get:

• 2 points for takedowns, sweeps, and getting the knee on belly position,

• 3 points for passing guard, and

• 4 points for mounts and back mounts.

• Judges award points only if the players can keep the position for at least four seconds.

Negative Points or Penalties

There are some instances when a competitor may receive negative points. The most important things you need to note to avoid penalty are the following:

• Never place four fingers inside the pants or sleeves

• Avoid stalling tactics—the referee will most definitely notice, players must show continuos submission attempts, or actively working to advance their positon. If a positon is held longer than 15 seconds with no attempts to submit or advance, players will be stood up and continue. and you’ll get penalized after three warnings.**Example… If you deliberately leave (i.e. runs away from) the fight area to prevent opponent from scoring, as a penalty, your opponent will receive two points

• There are also other conditions that may earn you penalties, such as restricted attacks.
