He started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 16 in Mato Grosso, Brazil, where he became an Interstate Champion five times. After traveling through Europe for four years, he settled in Australia in 2007. Antonio received his brown belt from Venancio Jiu-Jitsu Academia Lider de Artes and earned his black belt under André Galvão, one of the most decorated competitors in BJJ history. Antonio also competed in MMA with a record of 3 wins (1 KO) and 2 losses. The coaching staff includes Richard Anchante (No-Gi specialist), Tom Yarwood (Striking), and Paulo (Kids Coach), providing expertise across multiple disciplines.

Brothers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a joint effort between David and Tim Buhagiar, both 2nd degree black belts under 5th degree black belt Peter de Been. The gym is an affiliate of De Been Jiu Jitsu, one of the pioneering Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools in Australia. The Buhagiar brothers have dedicated their time to training people from all walks of life including police, military personnel, and paramedics. The gym offers comprehensive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training with a focus on building a community of friends working together to improve. Their training philosophy emphasizes effectiveness in both self-defense and competition, while creating a supportive environment for practitioners at all levels. The facility features over 100 square meters of high-quality FUJI wall and floor mats, separate men's and women's changing rooms and toilets, air conditioning, and a merch store for members. Head instructors Tim and Dave Buhagiar bring over a decade of experience each in teaching and competing. Tim has achieved an AFBJJ state title and holds an Orange Belt in Judo, having won back-to-back competitions against higher ranks. David holds a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education from Griffith University and has earned medals in both state and local AFBJJ competitions.
