Escudo Jiu-Jitsu is now operating under the Golden Glory Fitness & Martial Arts Academy umbrella in Surrey, British Columbia. Founded on Gracie Jiu-Jitsu principles, Escudo (Portuguese for "shield") represents protection through martial arts training. The academy is led by Professor Pedro De Miranda, a third-degree black belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu who is officially registered with the IBJJF and has taught and competed at the highest levels internationally, with affiliates in both Brazil and Canada. The Jiu-Jitsu program is headed by Charanjit Singh Hayre, an IBJJF registered black belt with over three decades of martial arts experience. He is assisted by instructors Ranvir and Mandeep, both IBJJF registered purple belts who help teach both kids and adult programs. The academy's mission is founded on principles that every member can enjoy a healthier lifestyle through martial arts, with programs centered on self-defense influenced by both ground fighting (Gracie Jiu-Jitsu & Wrestling) and striking arts (Boxing & Muay Thai). Escudo offers both adult and junior warrior programs, teaching over 100 authentic self-defense techniques. The adult program welcomes students regardless of previous martial arts experience, age, or athletic ability, providing a supportive environment for learning proven techniques used by law enforcement and military.
