1st 10th Planet black belt instructor, coach Matt Walsh, has been a devoted student of the system since 2008.  In 2013 he started teaching classes in 10th Planet gyms including premier moons like the ones in San Francisco and San Diego.  Coach Matt has years of experience in the world, national, and regional no gi competition scene having regularly taken the podium in all categories. In recent years his training focuses more on coaching and assisting students/ training partners in their competitive careers. Apollo Beach Jiu-Jitsu

Gracie Apollo Beach is a family-oriented martial arts academy founded in February 2018 by Professor Luis Mata and Professor Erin Harpe, both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts under Rob Kahn and Matt Arroyo. The academy is dedicated to helping individuals of all ages achieve their personal goals through self-defense training, discipline, and confidence-building programs. Professor Luis Mata brings over 13 years of jiu-jitsu experience and 6 years of MMA experience to the academy. He began training in 2007 at age 16 and competed in prestigious tournaments including the IBJJF World Championship, IBJJF New York Open, and Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Trials. As a professional submission grappler, Luis coached the 2018 Kids International champions. Professor Erin Harpe is a two-time IBJJF World Champion (2014 blue belt, 2015 purple belt) and professional MMA fighter signed with Invicta Fighting Championship. She started training at age 5 under her father, Royce Gracie black belt James Harpe, and moved to Tampa in 2013 to train with the Gracie Tampa Network. The academy offers specialized programs for all experience levels, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for kids, teens, and adults, striking classes (kickboxing and Muay Thai), women's self-defense, HIIT training, and youth programs. The training philosophy emphasizes practical self-defense, physical fitness, and building confidence in a supportive, family-friendly environment. Gracie Apollo Beach serves Ruskin, Apollo Beach, Tampa, and surrounding communities in Florida.

Brazilian Top Team - Palencia

Brazilian Top Team Palencia is a proud affiliate of Brazilian Top Team, one of the oldest and most decorated martial arts teams in the world. Established in 2000 by a group of Carlson Gracie students led by Murilo Bustamante, Brazilian Top Team developed and created new training techniques for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Through strict professional work and extensive study of martial arts, BTT established itself as one of the best mixed martial arts teams globally. At BTT Palencia, students train under the guidance of experienced instructors who emphasize technical excellence, proper leverage, and the fundamental principle that a smaller, weaker person can defeat a bigger, stronger opponent through technique. The gym offers comprehensive training programs for both children and adults, with a focus on creating an enjoyable and easily grasped learning environment. Training includes both Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, allowing students to develop well-rounded grappling skills. The coaching staff at BTT Palencia brings decades of combined experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts. Head instructor Michael Brennan is a 3rd degree black belt under Marcello Bergo with a direct lineage to the Gracie family through Mitsuyo Maeda, Carlos Gracie, Carlson Gracie, Murilo Bustamante, and Marcello Bergo. As a lifelong martial artist, Mike holds black belts in Kajukenbo and Shaolin Goju and is an inductee in the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame (2011). The team also includes Mike Bland, a 4th degree black belt and retired police sergeant with over 25 years of coaching experience, and Reed Hepperly, a black belt with more than 30 years of grappling experience who founded the first BJJ school in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.

As a firefighter and veteran, Ricky brings responsibility and calm decision-making into every class. American Jiu Jitsu is taught as a system of defense, control, and accountability — never aggression. Today, the academy is a trusted place for kids, teens, and adults to train safely, improve confidence, and grow in a respectful environment.

EFJ

The trial class is for those who have never tried Brazilian Jiu Jitsu before. It will prepare you to safely enter group classes. When you schedule your class, you will have your date and time set, your GI separated ready and clean, you will start your class in a very light way through the essential movements and techniques of out instructors. There will be no rolls “sparring” or complicated techniques involved in this class; you will learn basic movements that anyone can engage in.
