Lockdown to Electric Chair | Sweeps, Back Takes & Leg Locks

From 10th Planet Colorado Springs

July 23, 2026

Learn a complete 10th Planet lockdown system connecting the Electric Chair sweep to back takes, passing, kneebars, the Vaporizer, double outside ashi, and heel hooks.

Coach starts from standing with a re-drag into the Russian 2-on-1 or an arm drag to the back. From there, the series covers the mat return, tripod, arm control, and spiral ride to either secure the back or finish with an arm triangle.

The ground series begins with the Escape from Alcatraz from mount to recover lockdown. Coach builds the frame, switches the hips, gets double underhooks, and enters the Electric Chair sweep.

The lesson covers:

• Re-drag to Russian 2-on-1

• Arm drag to the back

• Mat return, tripod, and spiral ride

• Back control or arm-triangle finish

• Escape from Alcatraz to lockdown

• Double underhooks to the Electric Chair

• Kneebar or completed sweep

• Cradle pass after the sweep

• Escaping when trapped in lockdown

• Using the Jaws of Life to create space

• Electric Chair transitions toward the back

• Leg-drag-style passing

• The Vaporizer for advanced students

• Basic lockdown sweep when the opponent bases out

• Double outside ashi when the sweep fails

• Kneebars, inside heel hooks, and reaping entries

This 12-minute lesson gives you multiple answers from lockdown instead of relying on a single sweep.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
