What a Jiu-Jitsu Class Is Really Like | All Access Ep 1

From 10th Planet Newark Ohio

September 25, 2026

This is a few real days of classes inside 10th Planet Newark, a no-gi jiu-jitsu gym in Heath, Ohio, all the way to lights out. Coach Jon Borrows (10th Planet black belt under Eddie Bravo) teaches the ghost escape from side control: getting out AND coming up into a scoring position instead of settling for guard. Then the room puts it to work with the "escape and score" drill, where the bottom player starts down by two with two minutes on the clock. After the rounds, students bring the problems they keep running into, and we work through the fixes together.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
