Brazilian Deputy Capitão Alberto Neto has made serious allegations against Melqui Galvão, a prominent figure in the BJJ community and father/coach to Mica Galvão. Neto claims that Melqui Galvão, while incarcerated, has been making phone calls from prison to threaten his students and their families. These threats are reportedly aimed at preventing students from leaving his gym, with Neto stating that Galvão is attempting to maintain control over his athletes even from behind bars.

The deputy's accusations suggest a pattern of intimidation, where students who wish to train elsewhere or leave the academy are allegedly met with threats. Neto emphasized the severity of these actions, highlighting that such behavior is unacceptable and illegal, especially coming from someone in prison. He called for an investigation into these claims, urging authorities to take action against Galvão for allegedly using his influence to coerce and threaten individuals.

This situation has significant implications for the BJJ community, raising concerns about athlete welfare, ethical conduct of coaches, and the potential for abuse of power within academies. The allegations, if proven true, could severely damage Melqui Galvão's reputation and prompt a broader discussion within the sport about safeguarding students and ensuring a safe training environment free from intimidation.
