I Sacrificed Health for Career… And Paid The Price 😳

From CMJJ Headquarters

June 27, 2026

Transitioning from the rigorous discipline of martial arts to the intense, sedentary world of the bench was a massive shift. I became so consumed by the job—training judges, earning degrees, and constant education—that I completely abandoned my own well-being. Watching my weight balloon from 210 to 356 pounds while battling diabetes and atrial fibrillation was a brutal wake-up call. It's easy to judge others for their physical state, especially in demanding professions, but until you've walked in those shoes, you can't truly understand the toll that kind of pressure takes on your body and mind.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
