Dark Carnival - BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

“Think Street. Train Sport. Practice Art”

This statement encapsulates the training emphasis of Dark Carnival Jiu Jitsu (DCJJ) as advocated by Chris Haueter, creator of Combat Base and 5th degree black belt under Master Rigan Machado.

DCJJ remains true to the original intention of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which is self preservation, while moving with the present environment of competition for those who are keen.

Take-downs and Throws, Positioning, Escapes, Transitions and Submissions/Striking.

Learning how to move, use and control an opponent on the ground is a major part to any self defence or MMA practitioner.

DCJJ provides students and clients with a solid appreciation for all that BJJ offers;
- Self Defence
- Health and well being
- Control under pressure
- Physical, mental and emotional conditioning.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
