DARUMA DOJO - GROWING TOGETHER

From Daruma Dojo

September 18, 2026

They train together, but they’re learning how to become their own people.

For Christine, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gave her children something different from the team sports they were already accustomed to.

On the mats, they can learn alongside one another while developing their own techniques, understanding their own bodies and discovering how to solve problems individually.

Over time, that growth has extended beyond Jiu-Jitsu.

More confidence. More willingness to communicate. A better understanding of discipline and control. And the realization that technique, patience and knowledge can accomplish what strength alone cannot.

But perhaps one of the most meaningful parts has been the community surrounding them.

Training partners become friends. Parents build relationships. Kids celebrate birthdays, spend time together outside the academy and develop connections that extend far beyond class.

They’re growing individually.

They’re growing together.

And we’re grateful that Daruma Dojo gets to be part of that journey.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
