Episode 9 – The Foot Surgeon Pt 2
On the mats of Gracie Humaitá KC, Beverly Graham has found more than just training partners. She’s found a culture built on respect. She knows many women hesitate before stepping into a jiu-jitsu academy, but her message is clear: at Gracie Humaitá KC, there is no need for intimidation. Effort is recognized, progress is valued, and everyone on the mat is treated as a practitioner.
Beverly points to the Coaches as a driving force in that culture, mentors who not only teach techniques but also stand behind their athletes when they choose to compete. That support, she says, makes the difference between simply training and truly preparing for the challenges of competition and in life.
For Beverly, jiu-jitsu is about the willingness to push past comfort zones. It’s a mindset she values, and it’s the same mindset she encourages other women to embrace.
