Part 1: The Move — From a Small Academy to a New Home

From @Jiu-Jitsu NYC

June 17, 2026

We had to keep the move quiet and move in silence. While we’re excited to welcome everyone into our new space, this move was really for those of us who spent years in the small academy that helped shape who we are.

We grew together there not just as martial artists, but as a community. Looking back, what seemed impossible became possible because so many people stepped up and lent a hand.

We’re incredibly grateful for our new home, but even more grateful for the people who made it possible. At the end of the day, the space is new, but the community is what truly matters.

Part 1: The Move.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
