## Bio

Bernardo Faria turned his 2009 black belt promotion into a career-defining move by leaving Juiz de Fora for Alliance São Paulo under Fabio Gurgel. A relentless pressure passer who weaponized the over-under and the double-under pass, Faria built his game around smashing opponents with his trademark “bat pass” and heavy shoulder pressure. His early black belt years delivered immediate returns: in 2010 he won the European Open absolute division, and he followed that by taking double gold at the 2011 World Championship (medium-heavyweight and absolute). Faria’s run included three more world titles at medium-heavyweight (2013, 2015, 2016) and a second absolute silver in 2012, cementing him as one of the most dominant heavyweights of his generation.
