## Bio

A blue belt who nearly quit after his first tournament win, Caio Terra instead accelerated into one of the fastest ascents to black belt on record—promoted by Reyson Gracie and Paulo M. Strauch in July 2006. Training initially under Rodrigo Medeiros and Ricardo Vieira at Fight Zone in Copacabana, he later built a home mat lab that fueled his technical obsession. Terra became the first roosterweight to consistently win IBJJF absolute divisions, setting a trend for lighter competitors. His 2008 world title at black belt capped a rise that nearly got blocked by IBJJF’s new minimum belt timelines. He now leads Caio Terra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association.
