## Overview

**Name:** Cássio Cardoso

**Date of Birth:** October 21, 1962 (age 63)

## Bio

A Rolls Gracie blue belt who migrated to Carlson Gracie’s team after six months, Cássio Cardoso became one of the toughest lightweights of his era, going undefeated from junior blue belt until black belt. His only loss in the black belt division came to Marcelo Behring by points, a defeat he avenged in their legendary one-hour match at Lagoa in 1988. After that fight, with few rivals left, he stepped back from competition and became Carlson Gracie’s right-hand man, helping develop Ricardo De La Riva and Murilo Bustamante. He also boxed briefly, earning a draw in his only bout.
